Ah, What's next now for me.

I'm definitely gonna miss home, looking forward to my graduation this year, looking to have a good time with my good friends at my new home in Clayton, waiting for more challenges ahead this year, and hoping for the best in everything.

Anyway, I wish all the best to my friends who have graduated and who are in the working field now. Not to forget those who are also still studying, jobless or looking for one or whatever you are doing.

Yadayada. Ciaoz. Will be blogging again when I have the time in Melbourne. Ciaoz.

Video Game earning billions, what about piracy?

I was watching TV the other day. I think was either CNN or CNBC. It was reporting some news on Activision Blizzard. And, I thought. Hey, isn't it Activision, the creator of Call of Duty?

And yea, I went browsing the net awhile ago.

1. They were announcing some news on their future and prospected games - StarCraft 2 ....
2. Profit Announcement - $2.5 bil for FOURTH QUARTER 2009.

And apparently, Activision is the parent company of BLIZZARD. WOAH! The creator of WarCraft 3, StarCraft and World of Warcraft. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activision_Blizzard. I was pretty surprise on that. I never thought Blizzard can be ever owned by any another game maker. And you know what, each of them are earning their share of billions on video games.

Activision Blizzard 2008 Annual Report from http://investor.activision.com/annuals.cfm

I went into Activision Blizzard's website to check on their annual report. 2008 Annual Report says that they had a revenue on 5 billion dollars in 2008. 5 BILLION dollars!!! That is a whole one big amount of revenue man. Say each video game is about $120 per game. That's like 40 million copies of COD sold man - don't play play.

The break down of that 5 billion dollars consist of Activision, $2.152 bil; Blizzard, $1.343 bil. The rest were distribution and segment revenues. Woah. It seems that Activision is much bigger than I thought so. Can you ever imagine selling Call of Duty and Guitar Heroes alone is enough to generate billions and not millions of dollars in revenue? Wah, this is good money man. I wonder if I ever franchised "Char Siew Pau" is enough to earn thousands or not.

Anyway, there's also another thing in the report that kinda make me LOL big time!

As you can see, the breakdown of the revenue from 3 different regions: North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. And Asia Pacific is only contributing 7% of the revenue. LOL! I hope so you know why am I emphasizing this 7%. Asia Pacific consists of China, Korea, Japan, South East Asia and Australia. And 7% is seriously low because the population of gamers in Asia Pacific alone is greater than North America and Europe.

Well, we can all blame PIRACY. If you support Piracy, thus it explains the 7%. Hahahaha. (I know I'm one of them)

The sad thing is that PIRACY is killing the industry's revenue. Even though it may earn billions in revenue, there are actually net losses for them too. I'm sure you don't want to see the last of the best games for the year are Left 4 Dead 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

So for once, if you don't BUY them, at least TRY to think ORIGINAL.

Dandenong Ranges

When Daddy was here in Melbourne, we took a trip to the Dandenong Ranges. I think its one of the forest reserves nearest to the city. At the peak, you see the city, the surrounding suburbs and also Port Phillips Bay.

Anyway, we joined this day -tour which costs us about 60AUD per person, I think.

So, the tour bus took us right into the heart of the Dandenong Ranges. There was this visitor area for tourist bus.

FYI, the whole entire place was actually Bush-Fire Prone. There are even few charred trees around because of the bush fires throughout the years.

Wildlife - birds. These are one of the few birds that are common here. And we had the chance to feed them.

I call this bird the "YODA-BIRD". The white fur is the gown, the yellow hair behind its head is the ninja-headband thingy. "FUuuuuuuuuuuuiiiiiyaaaaaaa~~~~~"

Pink Dandenong Bird

I have no idea what are the names of the bird. I think the white one was a Cockatoo. And, The green one is GREEN BIRD, and the Pink one is PINKISH BIRD. LOL.

Me and Dad, conquered "part" of Dandenong Ranges. =D =D
